We have facilities to accommodate one wheelchair user and also welcome families
The barn is accessed via a gently sloping paved driveway which runs from the main road to a large level courtyard area where the camping barn is located. For car parking information, please go to How To Find Us . There are no steps in the courtyard area, which is mostly block paved and quite level. There are some areas where there are natural stone flags or the original stone cobbles have been retained as a decorative feature and in these places the surface is slightly uneven. If required we can provide a fine wooden ramp to enable wheelchairs and buggies to move smoothly over the lip of the front door to the barn.
There is an optional bed space in the downstairs area to enable access for a wheelchair user. The kitchen has an height adjustable work surface, and the toilet/shower wetroom has full disabled access. Assistance dogs are also welcome. If you are registered disabled, we can arrange to be available on your arrival to help with luggage.
A cot, highchair and baby bath are available for people travelling with babies or very young children.
The barn has been awarded mobility access level 2 for its specialist facilities overall. This means the barn is typically suitable for a person with restricted walking ability and for those who may need to use a wheelchair some of the time. However, we feel that downstairs could be suitable for a person who depends on the use of a wheelchair but is able to transfer unaided to and from the wheelchair in a seated position. Thus the barn could be suitable for an independent traveller, but the barn's upstairs room means we can provide facilities for an accompanying carer or family/friends. Our VisitBritain assessor commented that this was the first bunkhouse she had seen in this region with this level of disabled access.
